Created as a study, Trio explores composition, proportion and the relationship between three individual birds within a single portrait. Oil and metallic paint bring warmth and subtle variation to the feathers, while the painted black border gives the composition a more intimate scale. Based on an existing composition, the work reflects an earlier stage of my practice and the technical study that helped shape my approach to painting.
