Silver flowers interrupt a dense field of crimson, burgundy and deep violet, their dimensional surfaces sitting physically above the painted ground. Around them, stems and leaves move more freely, almost like calligraphic marks, allowing the composition to shift between botanical image and ornament. Light completes the work: the silver relief brightens, darkens and changes character as the viewer moves past it.
